What this site does and does not claim

This page states the limits of everything published on this site. Two of the disclaimers below also appear in the body of the pages they govern, because a limit that only exists in a footer is not doing its job.

Customs classification and regulatory information

Customs classification and regulatory information on this site is general. It does not constitute customs, legal or compliance advice. Confirm the position for your own shipment with your broker, or seek a binding tariff ruling in the destination country, before you rely on any of it.

Where this site sets out a classification position, that is an argument with a stated basis. It is not a determination. The authority to determine the classification of your consignment sits with the customs administration of the importing country, and nothing published here binds it or predicts it.

Dangerous-goods classification

Dangerous-goods classification is the shipper’s and the carrier’s determination for each consignment. Nothing on this site alters that, and nothing here is a classification of any consignment you are shipping. Where we describe a test result or a handling practice, we are describing what we do in our own operation, not what your carrier will conclude about your cargo.

Specification values

Specification values are batch-dependent. The governing figures for your shipment are the ones on the certificate of analysis issued for your lot, not the indicative values on a web page. Published values describe what we build to; they are not a guarantee for any specific shipment. Where we hold no verified figure we publish none, rather than an estimate or a range.

Methods described on this site

Several pages describe tests a buyer can run without a laboratory. Those are our proposed methods, and they are labelled as such wherever they appear. They are not industry standards and they are not laboratory procedures. A result from one of them is a comparison between two cubes under the same conditions, not a measurement of either, and it should not be presented to a third party as one.
